A Note from the Principal
2009

August 17, 2009

Hello!

Diamond really is a great place to be and I love working at the elementary.  We are lucky this year to bring a wonderful staff and team to Diamond.  The energy and excitement is obvious as you walk down the halls! This is my third year at Diamond and I am very excited to be your Elementary Principal.  I believe I have the best job there is to have and feel very lucky.  My husband, Dr. Lance Massey, also shares that same luck ... he is the Wheaton High School Principal.  I have two children who are both in college. Larissa is 21 and Chase is 20.  Larissa would like to be a school counselor and Chase is majoring in accounting.  Lance also has a 10 year old daughter, Morgan.

I enjoy what I do.  I went to school at Seneca and my parents still live on a farm there.  My mother teaches at Neosho and my father is now retired.  I have one brother, Jason, who has his Doctorate in Pharmacy and lives in New York.  I miss him but he is great to come home to visit a lot.

Family is very important to me and I know it is to you.  That is why I am here.  The best educational team is a team where the teachers and school, parents, and students all work together.  Should you have any problems at school I want you to contact us!   I value the opportunity we have in educating your children and am honored to do this.  Parents, I want you to know that I understand the different experiences you encounter.  I am excited to be able to work together to find solutions!

I am looking forward to another year with Diamond.  Please make plans to attend a Rise and Shine Assembly or stop by for a visit!  You will be greeted by Mrs. Brock, our secretary, who will do a wonderful job at helping you however she can.  Mrs. Martin, our counselor and Mrs. Sprague, our Reading coach will do everything they can to help our teachers answer any questions you may have!

"Diamond is a Great Place to Be!"

Let's make is a terrific year!

Yours in Education,

Melissa Massey
