Classroom Accountability Program
The Classroom Accountability Program will be implemented to promote a culture of high academic expectations for all DHS extra curricular participates.
Grade reports will be conducted on the Wednesday of weeks 3 – 6 – 9 of each quarter. After each 3 week grade report, students will bring their current coach / sponsor a copy of their grade reports. By the student personally reporting their grades to the coach / sponsor, the level of concern and/or urgency of the importance of classroom performance will be increased. While reinforcing the commitment to classroom excellence our programs expect of it participates.
Students who have a grade of an F as of the time of the grade report will be suspended from competition in their extra curricular activity. Students have an opportunity to be reinstated for competition as early as the first Monday following a grade check with verification of a passing grade.
Any students receiving letter grades of a D or F will automatically be placed in the Classroom Accountability Program (CAP). Students will report to the Library daily at 7:15am, the students will focus in a silent study hall atmosphere to improve class performance. Teachers of the class in need of improvement may request the study hall period to work with the students. Students must have a signed teacher’s recommendation demonstrating class improvement of a C or higher to leave CAP. Students who leave CAP will be monitored over nine a week period to assure performance is maintained in the classroom.
CAP students who attend required study hall sessions are permitted to practice daily. In the case of a CAP unexcused absence, the student will complete CAP time in place of practice. If a student lacks good standing in the Classroom Accountability Program all competition privileges will be revoked until the student is reinstated in CAP good standing.
