When Sarah Berry started this school year, she was beginning her sixth year at Diamond Elementary School. Before she taught the first grade here in Diamond, she was at Neosho for half a year teaching Kindergarten. Her favorite grade to teach is first grade because, “I love teaching them to read and I love how enthusiastic they are.”
LG: What is your favorite thing about Diamond?
SB: "I just like the small town feeling. I like that you get to know
everybody. I like teaching here because I love the people I work with. You want to come to school each morning because you teach with your friends."
LG: What is your favorite subject to teach and what is your favorite method of teaching?
SB: "I like to teach reading because it´s great to see them get excited about it. For teaching methods, I like to do hands-on activities. I love using Music and Songs in teaching."
LG: Who is your inspiration?
SB: "I had a lot of great teachers in elementary school that made me want
to be a teacher."
Finally I asked, “What is something interesting about you that most people wouldn’t know?” She then replied, “I like to try new things, and I have gone skydiving before. I´ve gone Tandem skydiving three times. That is where you are attached to a professional skydiver.”
