Grading: Grades for the class will come from daily points (bringing your book, pencil, paper etc, participation in class activities and discussions, homework assignments, quizzes and tests. I will use the following grading scale:
94-100=A 84-86=B 74-76=C 64-66=D
90-93=A- 80-83=B- 70-73=C- 60-63=D-
87-89=B+ 77-79=C+ 67-69=D+ 60-0=F
*Cheating will not be tolerated. If you use someone else’s work as your own, you are guilty of cheating. If you give your answers to another student or take answers from another student then you are cheating. If caught cheating, both parties will receive a zero for the assignment and ASD or an office referral. .

Absent/Make-up Work: I will follow the school policy on late work. With an excused absence, you have the day you come back plus the number of days missed to make-up your assignments. You should check the assignment folder to see what you missed. Getting make-up work is your responsibility. If the absence is unexcused, you do not get to make-up the work.

Late Work: I DO NOT take late work. If you don’t have your assignment, you will receive a zero. Each student can get two zeros per semester. After two zeros, the student will receive an after-school detention for every zero.

Field Trips: It is the student’s responsibility to inform the teacher at least two days prior that he/she will miss class for a field trip and to obtain and complete by the beginning of class on the following school day any assignment(s) missed. If the student is on campus during school hours, i.e. 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the student is further responsible for turning in the assignment due the day of the trip.

Tardies: You are considered tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings. When you come to class, you should turn in your homework and sit down. You are only allowed two tardies per semester. On the third tardy, you will receive after-school detention and continue to receive it for every tardy that semester.

Passes: Each student will be allowed three passes per semester. At the beginning of each semester, each student will be given a hall pass card with his/her name on it. To leave class for any reason you must have that hall pass card and your student handbook. Any unused passes can be turned in at the end of the semester for bonus points.

Labeling Papers: All of you papers should be labeled in the top left corner. Your paper should contain: Name
Date
Hour/Class
Assignment

**Typed papers will be labeled differently.

Journals-Each student will need a 70-100 page spiral notebook for journal assignments. Journals will be assigned a couple times a week and should be completed in the allotted time at the beginning of the hour. These notebooks should never leave the classroom. If you are absent, you are expected to get the journal prompt and make-up the assignment.

Classroom Rules:
1. Be respectful of others and their property at all times. Keep your hands, feet, objects, and inappropriate comments/gestures to yourself.
2. Be respectful of the learning environment of this class and all other classes. Please, do not talk without the teacher’s permission. To get permission, raise your had and wait to be called on by the teacher. During group work, talking should still be done at a reasonable level. There will be no reading, writing, or passing of notes. Notes will be taken and may be turned in to the office with copies mailed to your parents/guardians.
3. Be respectful of our time. All students are expected to be ready to begin class when the tardy bell stops ringing.
4. Be respectful of the teacher and her property. Please, do not bother anything on or in the teacher’s desk (with the exception of the Germ-X and tissues), cabinets, closet, filing cabinets, shelves, etc. Defiance results in an office referral.
5. Be respectful of yourself and your future. Make the most of each day in class. It makes each day after that much easier and more enjoyable. Tomorrow rides upon the decision you make today.

If a student does not follow these rules and those stated in the handbook, any of the following consequences will result: warning, call home, loss of daily points or zero on quiz/test/assignment, after school detention, referral to the office, or other reasonable punishment.

Other: No gum, candy, or drinks will be allowed in the classroom unless given permission from me for special occasions. Cell phones must be turned off while you are at school. If your cell phone is on, I will take it. I have the right to check cell phones at any time.
