International Club learns Origami

March 01, 2007

This month the International Club learned the traditional Japanese art of Origami.  Haruka, Diamond's Japanese exchange student, taught the members how to fold paper to create a crane. Children in Japan learn this craft at home and many continue when they are older.  According to Haruka, it is mostly the Japanese girls who enjoy origami because the boys tend to find it boring.

Cranes are a popular animal to create.  According to legend, if you have a wish (to win a game or to be healed), you can make 1000 cranes to have this wish granted.  It's for good luck!
