According to the pamphlet, "The real terms of FFA!!", FFA is a national organization of students enrolled in agricultural education designed to provide training in leadership, citizenship, and cooperation. Additionally, FFA provides career developing events (contest events) and award programs for students to participate in to display their skills in the area of agricultural education.
"I'm really excited about the upcoming school year. I have a very motivated group of Ag 1 students, that are really excited to become active members of the FFA," said Ms. Becky Wait.
"I'm a man of few words, it will be a good year. We are planning on qualifying several teams for state," said Mr. Steve Johnson.
What are some things our FFA members can look forward to in the upcoming 2008-2009 school year?
"There are many things planned for this school year. Gem city days we will have a float for the FFA. Within the next few weeks we will start FFA fruit sales and go to MU field day in Mount Vernon. At the end of September our first year 'Greenhands' will go to their conference. The most popular thing that we will do, the students and even myself can't wait for, is definitely National Convention. Which is in Indianapolis, Indiana; and lasts all of about 4 days. Its a pretty exciting trip," said Ms. Wait.
Overall, FFA has a lot to offer and is a lot of fun. We are sure you are going to have an exciting year, FFA members!
