Bus Discipline Policy

Behavior Guidelines and Consequences
A. Class 1 Offenses
1. Spitting
2. Horseplay
3. Excessive noise
4. Leaving seat/standing while bus is in motion
5. Profanity, verbal abuse, harassment, obscene gestures or possession
of unacceptable material.
6. Students may not use radios, tape recorders, electronic games or cell
phones on the bus without administrative approval.
7. Other offenses as reported by the driver
B. Class 2 Offenses
1. Hanging out of windows
2. Throwing/shooting of any object
3. Physical aggression against any person
4. Use of tobacco or any controlled substance
5. Vandalism to bus (restitution is required)
6. Possession or use of matches, firecrackers or any flammable object or substance
7. Holding onto/or attempting to hold on to any portion of the exterior of the bus
8. Unauthorized entering or leaving bus through emergency door/tampering of the
bus equipment
9. Other offenses as reported by the driver
C. Consequences
1. Class 1
a. First written offense – warning (grades K-2 only) or 1 to 5 days suspension
b. Second offense – 1 to 5 days suspension
c. Third offense - 10 days suspension w/ possible loss of riding privilege
d. Fourth offense – Loss of bus service
2. Class 2
a. First offense- 1 to 3 days suspension
b. Second offense – 5 to 10 days suspension w/possible loss of riding privilege
c. Third offense – Loss of bus service
This bus policy is in compliance with all Diamond R-IV Board of Education approved policies.
Parents should be aware that if a student is suspended from the bus, it is the responsibility of the parent(s) to provide alternate transportation to school.
